Deepak Nagendra
Manager, Sashakt Prathmik, Uttarakhand
Deepak belongs to many places. Years of travel and work across classrooms and communities
have made him belong not to one region, but to every space where curiosity and compassion
meet. He is drawn to moments, the kind that make people pause and feel something real. He
enjoys watching a film, but even more, he enjoys watching how others experience it. For him,
growth is found in awareness, in noticing, understanding, and evolving through what we see
and feel.
His path into education and social impact wasn’t linear; it was led by questions about dignity,
fairness, and the quiet power of relationships. Over the years, he has designed and
implemented programs that center teacher development, behaviour change, social-emotional
learning, early childhood development, and social protection, always with a systems lens,
always grounded in the lived reality of schools and families. He has worked across states like
Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Bihar, collaborating with
public systems, building community trust, setting up print-rich and reading spaces, and using
data with empathy to improve what truly matters: children’s learning and teachers’ confidence.
Deepak’s anchor is growth, his own and everyone else’s. His efforts are consistently pointed at
equality and freedom: classrooms that humanise, teams that listen, and processes that scale
without losing their soul. He loves Hindustani classical music (a beginner singer, a devoted
listener), finds joy in classical dance and other art forms, and keeps returning to the simple
practice of paying deep attention to stories, to people, to the small shifts that signal real
change.
He believes education, done with compassion and courage, can remake the world, one honest
conversation, one classroom, one community at a time.
