Aaqib comes from a small hamlet in the northern part of Kashmir, where he grew up in mustard fields, apple orchards, and under the shade of the majestic chinar trees.
Rooted in the rich landscapes of his childhood, Aaqib developed a deep love for storytelling and photography, which led him to pursue a master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism.
Aaqib has worked as a journalist for two years, covering stories on the education system, where he understood the need and importance of excellent education, which led him to join Teach For India.

As a fellow, Aaqib taught 8th and 9th-graders, where he was not only confined to the four walls of a classroom but also initiated different projects with his students, including the production of multiple photo essays and a documentary. His work fostered not only academic growth but also artistic expression and confidence among his students.
As a child, Aaqib was captivated by fairy tales. He would stay up late listening to stories from his grandparents, then make up his own magical tales to share with other children.
